Our first experiences for this
travel course have been traveling. After a workshop during the days we got a
few hours to finalize packing and had to hit the road to get to the train
station to board our train to Louisiana. It got very nerve-wracking getting to the
train station because we were finally leaving after spending so much time preparing
and packing for this trip. I have never been on a train, but most people I had
talked to compared it to a nicer version of a charter bus. That statement seemed
to check out when we boarded the train. Since we are group of odd number I
lucked out and got a section to myself, whereas the rest of my classmates had
to sit with a partner. Once I got comfortable and familiar with my surroundings
I really didn't mind being on the bus except for the constant swaying, because
I can get motion sickness. Once, I got comfortable I took some Dramamine to
prevent any motion sickness and then tried to get some sleep. Surprisingly I
got a lot of sleep on the train, it is much more comfortable than the charter
buses I had to sleep on for my travel classes in high school. My classmates did
not seem to get the best sleep though. When I woke up, we were only about 4 hours
away from New Orleans. I am getting more and more excited for this trip as we get
closer to our destination.
