Day Six: Outer

We had our free day in New Orleans this day. Most of my day was spent walking through the French Quarter. I have been in the French Quarter a lot for this trip, but having freedom for the whole day made it a bit different because there was no time limit on how we had to be at certain places. I really got to appreciate all the old buildings this day. I felt like I have spent a lot of time learning about the history I haven’t been able to absorb how amazing the city’s architecture really is. There is no other city so well preserved in history. The buildings are just amazing, with pops of bright color and old brick that’s been standing for decades. The ornate iron work is beautiful on nearly every balcony. Along with the unique architecture, the native people of this town are also unique. I love the layers of fun and different patterns you see people wearing. There is no judgement around here and you can see it in the way people wear their clothes.  Everyone can express their personalities by how they dress. I’ve seen many people wearing sparkling cardigans that catch the eye and pants with colorful designs and pattens. It really shows how this city incorporates all cultures and all people for you they are. The city is stuck in the past and has an amazing culture of people that live here. We met so many friendly people in this city and they have been from all over. I have had a great time on my own today getting to explore the city on my own.
