Today was our free day. I have been wait for this day to get to explore the city with my friends. Unfortunately, I woke up with a terrible migraine. This isn’t unusual for me and I have to say I’m happy it happened on my free day rather than the other days. So, my start to the day was later than my friends, but once I got up and going we spent some shopping time in the French Quarter. My favorite place to shop is the street artists. I absolutely love art and am so amazed by the creativity of people. I also really enjoy the handmade jewelry stores. We spent most of our day shopping until the Joan of Arc Krewe that began at 7pm. It was so fun much. It was different than any other parade I have been to at my home town. We got lots of things handed to us such as plastic coins, angel pins, cards about different people related to Joan of Arc, matches, and scraps of newspaper. Again, so different than parades back at home. The parade told the story of Joan of Arc, and it was really fascinating because I didn’t know much about her before looking into it and the parade really made fun celebration of her and displayed her in a fantastic way. We ended are night at a restaurant called Acme and we order some charbroiled oysters, which were amazing. We had to order a second round of them because we liked them so much. We headed home shortly after dinner to rest up for the next day.
