We had a really great day. We started the day at the St. Louis Cathedral and I lit a candle for one of my friends that passed away when I was in high school. then we got a tour in the cathedral itself and it was absolutely stunning. The paintings on the ceiling looked brand new due to them being done on canvas and being able to be retouched. I am not Catholic and do not know much about Catholicism so I really enjoyed learning about some of the history of the saints and how their statues usually related to either their profession or how they died. The church was just so beautifully made and had a great history being the oldest church in New Orleans. Next we visited the Ursuline Convent which is one of the only French buildings still standing after the two great fires that took out most of the city after the French lost control to Spain. So, it’s really cool to really see one of the few leftover original French buildings with original cypress wood. The convent had a great history, but my favorite story was the story of the little sweetheart. Which was a very small statue the sisters held onto and prayed during the great fires. They believe a miracle from the little sweetheart saved their convent from the fires. After our break for lunch we made our way to the pharmacy museum which was by far the best tour of this trip. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny at the same time. I learned so much and got great entertainment form the tour. The museum itself was great. I felt like I was walking into a pharmacy of the 1800s. It was crazy to see how some of the tools we used then haven’t changed much and then other things. The process used for pill making was so interesting to me because doses were never the same. Overall it was a great day.
